The city

A walled city that still lives inside its walls

Harar Jugol is a fortified historic town on a plateau in eastern Ethiopia. Its walls were built between the 13th and 16th centuries, and inside them the old quarters, mosques, shrines and decorated townhouses are still part of everyday life.

Virtual Harar exists to make that world easier to find, plan and enjoy, while supporting the people who keep it alive.
